Water Softeners in Lubbock

At ProClear Water Solutions we recognize and respect the fact that the consumer has a choice! When purchasing a water softener in Lubbock, there are options! Be sure to check out our residential water softeners. Our goal is to make sure our clientel are fully aware of their options and understand how and why ProClear it the BEST choice for Lubbock water softening!

1. Water Softener Size & Settings

A water softener tank contains resin beads which have a negative charge. These resin beads bind with the positively charged ions calcium and magnesium. The resin binds the "hard" minerals and keeps them from entering your home water supply. Once all the resin beads are "full" or saturated with the hard minerals, the resin must be cleaned. This step requires the salt from the brine tank to flush out the calcium and magnesium. This process is called regeneration.

This process is extremely important to the function of your Lubbock water softener. The settings for the softener are based on the hardness of your specific water. Across Lubbock, we do see differences in hardness! When you buy a softener from a hardware store, how will you test your water to determine its hardness?

Secondly, if you have a large family or several large tubs, you need to determine if you need a twin tank or single tank softener. We have an article on single vs twin tanks that explains more!

When your water softener is improperly sized or configured it will regenerate too often or not often enough. When it regenerates too often, you waste water and salt. Water is a precious non-renewable natural resource, it's important we be mindful of waste! If you softener doesn't regenerate enough, all of the resin beads are bound and you are no longer receiving soft water to your home.

This alone is the biggest reason to call ProClear Water Solutions for a Water Softener in Lubbock!

Because we are located in Lubbock, Texas we are going to use Lowes and Home Depot for comparison. Both stores sell a 45,000 grain, single tank water softener. Home improvement stores do not sell twin tank softeners. For a home with 3 or less people, these softeners can be sized ad programmed appropriately.

2. Common Issues with DIY Softeners

Where to begin on this one! Water softeners are not simple machines! Here are some of the common issues we see with DIY water softeners in Lubbock.

  1. Where does the plumbing come in your home? See more on that at- "What if I don't have a loop?" In short, for the DIY this will be an absolute nightmare if you cannot access the incoming water to your home.

  2. The home already has a loop- Cool! Easy! Still no! Often times we see homeowners AND plumbers install softeners backwards. Unfortunately, we have been to have that have had softeners for 5+ years and it was plumbed backwards- THE WHOLE TIME! This means, it NEVER worked!

  3. Home owner purchases the softener from a home improvement store. Tries the DIY method and decides to call ProClear! The labor cost for us to install these units on a home with a loop is $500 to $2,000 for a home without a loop. With the added expense, you could have had a really nice water softener straight from ProClear with a better warranty. BUT, we will install these for you if needed, just be prepared for the labor cost!

3. Warranty

  1. ProClear Warranty- If it breaks we fix it, right then. You wont wait "for parts to come in." We keep ALL replacement parts and complete valves in-stock at all times. We also use Fleck or Clack equipment. Both brands are widely recognized across the nation as the go-to in water treatment. Simply put, we deal with the warranty replacement- you don't! Our equipment carries a 5 year valve warranty and a 10 year tank and resin warranty

  2. Lowes Brand- 3 years from "date of purchase" warranty on mechanical and electronic parts. 10 year warranty from the "date of purchase" on media (resin), tank & brine cabinet. Parts will be sent to you with installation instructions for use by a licensed plumber. Must have proof of purchase or register your production online at the time of purchase.

  3. Home Depot Brand- 1 year from the date of purchase for defective material and workmanship. 1 year from date of purchase labor to repair any part deemed to be defective in materials or workmanship. 10 year from date of purchase on salt tank and fiberglass tank. 3 years from date of purcahase the electronic control board. After the first year, labor necessary to maintain this product is not covered by the product warranty.

4. Availability of Parts for Repair

How long will it take to get parts for a repair from a home improvement store? The answer is who knows. ProClear Water Solutions has visited with clients who have been waiting 6 months for parts from various dealers.
